I'm alive, guys. I have to delete the other lj for a bit here though, because I've been found out at work and this is not of the good.

Somehow, someway the two public posts I made about the FX con this past weekend (the recap and the picspam of me, Summer and Alan) were both linked in the news feed of ComicBookConventions.com without permission or notice. They even refer to my name as "Splinterific", the name of my fic site (wtf?). One of my co-workers Matt (NOT the best friend, this Matt is one of the co-workers I met up with at the con) happened upon it there, of course, and proceeded to come in to work teasing me about it because I made a comment about him and telling everyone we know. In his defense, he wouldn't have done that if he'd realized how much I'd freak out (which I did), but its too late to un-do now.

I always, always lock my even vaguely specific work-related posts, so I was safe that way, its just the slashiness and perviness I'd rather they not all know about. This is really not something I wanted to ever happen, especially on THE DAY that I interviewed for a new position, but I *did* leave the posts public. I just never expected something like this to happen. HOW did these people find me and why MY ridiculous fangirly recap that was intended for my f-list only and MY dorkarific pictures with Summer and Alan?

I'm going to email that site and ask them to remove the links, so hopefully this will blow over in a couple of days, because I don't think any of them remember my lj name (though Matt DID tell them all a couple of times before I got there and freaked), but really just directed them to the links through that site.

*sigh* This is not happening. I really really don't want to go to a completely f-locked journal, but it looks like I might have to. *sigh again*

Our new computer arrived today. I was FINALLY able to connect my wireless router and now I have wireless cable internet on my laptop again. Yaaaaaay.

But meanwhile, I've become horribly out of touch with all my sites, my friendslist, and my lj paid account has apparently expired as well as my extra icons. I still can't seem to get anyone to find my college degree impressive enough to actually HIRE me, and thus I do not have the funds to renew it. Grrrr. Soon, hopefully.

I have a job interview!

Its only part time and the hours are freakin early morning, but its with The News-Herald which is our local newspaper, so the potential opportunities for advancement are very very good.

So my parents are here helping me move, and we just went out to dinner. We were discussing the Olympics, and um.

Jackie Jeschelnig, the women's hammer thrower for the US Olympic team? Yeah, she went to junior high and high school with me. As did her brother and her cousin, who I knew much better than her, but even so. HOW didn't this come to my attention sooner? I don't think I've missed her event yet, but I must double check the schedules to be sure I can watch.

As for me, I'm heading out in a few minutes for home and my Great Uncle Tony's funeral. I'm not taking my computer so I probably won't be around online until sometime Tuesday at the earliest. Take care of yourselves and I'll talk to you all soon.

My Great Uncle Tony died today. We've kind of been prepared for awhile, so it wasn't a terribly sudden shock. He had Lou Gehrig's disease and more recently was diagnosed with Alzheimer's as well. He's been in a wheelchair for many years, and recently his mind had been slipping just as much as his body.

The last time I saw him was at my Great Aunt Jo's (his sister) wedding (her second marriage) in... June, I think that was. I don't think he remembered me, but it was a pretty crazy day, with lots of relatives (we're Italian!), so it was tough for him to keep everyone straight.

I have so many memories of big family get-togethers at Uncle Tony and Aunt Elaine's as a kid. My extended family has always been so close and so full of love and laughter, and I feel so grateful for each and every one of them in times like this. And all the rest of the times, too.

I love you, Uncle Tony. We'll miss you.

I just came across a post from a CFTC volunteer who's trying to collect input from the fans that attended CFTC VI this year. The suggestions and or venting about the event will be compiled and sent along to Melinda & company, so that they can hear what worked for you guys and what didn't in an effort to improve things for next year.
